В разработке механизма часов принимали участие специалисты Высшей школы архитектуры из города Ле Локль. Для того, чтобы создать уникальное квадратное колесо, потребовалось проведение множества экспериментов с тщательными замерами невероятной точности. До этого считалось, что колеса отличной от круга формы не могут входить в равномерное сцепление друг с другом, однако инженерам удалось найти такую форму зубьев в сочетании с такими размерами шестеренок, которая обеспечивала не только равномерный ход, но и высочайшую точность. Для этого были проведены эксперименты с увеличенной моделью часов, в ходе которой была выработана особая технология "LiGA". Сутью этой технологии является симбиоз метода фотолитографии и метода формовки, основой которой является электронасаждение. Благодаря этой технологии стало возможным изготавливать миниатюрные детали, обладающие невероятной точностью и несравненным изяществом. Эти детали по всем параметрам превосходят такие же, изготовленные традиционным способом на станке.
В итоге инженеры получили часовой механизм, в котором круглые и квадратные колеса взаимодействуют друг с другом без потери в точности. Работа часового механизма с нестандартной формой колес производит на наблюдателя завораживающее действие - настолько она кажется невероятной.
Часы Masterpiece Regulateur Roue Carree обладают круглым стальным корпусом, диаметр которого 43.5 мм. Полированные и матовые элементы в нем гармонично чередуются друг с другом. Циферблат надежно защищен внушительным сапфировым стеклом, покрытым антибликовым слоем. Задняя завинчивающаяся крышка так же сделана из сапфирового стекла. Внутренний механизм темно-серого, матового цвета отчетливо виден через нее. Вся конструкция выдерживает давление в 5 атмосфер, что обеспечивает часам водонепроницаемую защиту на глубине до 50 метров. Всего изготовлено 99 экземпляров.
